And so it ends! Fashion Week is over, but there is one last post to be written - and it's all about Piers Atkinson, millinery maestro. Pier's new collection 'Explodes in a riot of colour and texture'. La Belle Au Bois celebrated the riches of the Earth, bringing together fruits, flowers, greenery and gems in a sumptuous marriage. I worked with Piers for just over a month during the summer, learning a lot of basic millinery skills - the materials, the equipment, the arranging. A lot of the hats Piers has created for his new SS11 season retain Piers' quirky sense of humour - I like to think that you can tell that we all had a lot of fun working with him whilst we made them, I think it comes through in the end product! Ella from Machine-A fancied wearing an Atkinson hat for her front row appearance at the Charlie Le Mindu show, so she and Ash tried on a few: James Barnett is The Green Man: Piers' friend Beth blended in perfectly with the SS11 collection: Rosemary and Piers hard at work, even on the stall (Piers wears Grassy Headband): Clapham Common's answer to Adam and Eve - Adam and Steve!!: Hollywood Beret (and detail): Hollywood Headband: The Venus Fly Traps (I think I might love these ones): The Dalston Beret: The Pirate Hat wreath hat (amazing): The Wedding Headpiece maxout show piece: A Snake in the Grass (with Andrew Logan gold snake jewels): Chinese mask: Red hat (can't remember its official name - possibly my favourite): Rosemary models the simply beautiful hand stitched embroidery she worked on for the vintage veiling of these hats - absolutely lovely:And the whole exhibition - it was great to see everything finally finished, all looking superb and presented so nicely - it really was the most Spring/Summery presence at this years Fashion Week.
